The Lorax
★★★

Another Dr.Seuss' pieces! (Yes, I've just watched this movie, shame on me, because I actually had no time to watch it back then). This movie is telling you about the story of 12 year old boy who lived in Thneedville named Ted (Zac Efron) who fall for an older girl named Audrey (Taylor Swift). To win Audrey's heart, Ted must fulfill what Audrey desires the most, which is a real tree. FYI, in Thneedville, all trees are made from plastics with so many different shapes, sizes and features, just like an electronic device. There's also no fresh air in Thneedville, which brings O'Hare into fortune by selling fresh air in the bottle. Back to Ted. Finding a real growing tree is almost impossible, but with the help from his Grandma, by telling him an old story about how beautiful Earth was with trees and fresh air, he goes to an old man named Once-Ler (Ed Helms), who will tell him everything about the trees, which lead him to the story of The Lorax (Danny Devito), the guardian of the trees and his fault on causing Truffula trees into extinction by logging it for his brilliant invention, Thneed . Soon after, Ted is ready to make change by planting the only seed left from the Truffula tree and to open everybody's eyes about how important trees are for them. Of course, his way isn't going to be easy, with O'Hare standing on his way. O'Hare will do whatever it takes to stop Ted planting the seed, or else, Ted's effort will make him broke. What happens next? You need to watch the movie.

Once-ler : "So you want to know what happened to the trees? I didn't think anybody still cared!"
Ted : "Well, that's me! The guy who still cares!"

.........................................

As a Dr.Seuss fan (esp The Cat in The Hat and How The Grinch Stole Christmas), I would say that this movie isn't telling all about Lorax, but more about Once-Ler. I wouldn't say that this movie is as great as Despicable Me (as the tagline says "From the creators of Despicable Me"), but it's enough. I love the representation of the Lorax's village, with that cute bears and fish, beautiful and fluffy Truffula trees, it's like living in an ice cream world! The musical thing and the humour work. But I think that the plot is going rather slow in the middle, it made me yawn. And the chemistry between Ted and Audrey wasn't there (hello Zac and Swift??!). But I would say that every characters there are amazing. From Ted with his willpower, Audrey with her dream, Once-Ler with his regret, The Lorax with his dissapointment, all there. This movie may not be great in everything, but it's telling us something, that we should take care of our motherearth better, if we don't wanna end up in some place like Thneedville with fake air and fake trees. The representation of The Lorax itself it's like he is the medium, it's like The Lorax speaks for the trees, speaking that they don't wanna be cut off, stuff like that. And the greedyness of Once-Ler reminds us of ourselves, that we, human, often careless about our living Earth, only care about our own needs, that we know, it soon will affect us also. I would say that this movie is worth to watch, despite all of the flaws it has. This is a movie that will teach us about something, that will open our eyes about everything we've done.

Ted : "The last seed?"
Once-ler : "It's not about what it is. It's about what it can become."

Once-ler : "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."

ps : when I was watching this, there was a firefly flying around the studio, amazing!
